SIMPLE REPLACEMENT OF SILVER AMALGAM
This failing silver amalgam (mercury) filling was
replaced with a CEREC inlay. The patient requested this for cosmetic reasons and because she wanted to eliminate
mercury from her body.
This is a major cosmetic "make-over" CEREC restoration using
porcelain veneers and crowns
CEREC porcelain inlay. Why is CEREC the best restoration
in dentistry? 1. The porcelain is flawless from the beginning, designed and fabricated to the exact specification of
enamel (outer tooth structure) in density, translucency, compressive and flexure strength. It's the closest to a duplication
of actual tooth structure ever invented. 2. The CEREC computer scan is far more accurate than an impression. 3. Scanning eliminates
potential variables like distortions that can occur with impressions and models. 4. The cosmetic product is then carefully
designed and created by the dentist, specifically to satiate the patient's individual needs.
Cosmetic porcelain restorations (crowns and veneers) require many nuances that are
critical to the task- to accomplish a spectacularly beautiful smile while appearing natural (not fake). This old
restoration needed to be replaced for many reasons, mainly because it looked fabricated.
CEREC porcelain crowns and veneers have a great many custom characteristics to give the illusion and feel of a pristine,
and perfectly natural smile. Why is CEREC less expensive? The
porcelain is created in my office, not off site at a lab so there is no lab cost. Single visit dentistry saves quite
a bit of time. No impressions or models are needed. No lab fee, less time and virtually no materials needed translates
to a reduced overhead and enables the price I charge for CEREC to be lower.
This is a crown that failed to restore
the natural appearance of the other teeth in the smile. Using CEREC, we planned to stain and shade the new crown so that it
would blend into the patient's natural smile.
CEREC crown has a blend of translucency, color variation and white lines to match the other teeth.
Why is CEREC good for the environment? CEREC single visit dentistry is one office
visit instead of three. Ten patients means ten round trips to my office instead of thirty. Those ten patients would
represent thirty trips by a courier between my office and the laboratory; all ELIMINATED- that's significant greenhouse
gas emission reduction. Additionally, CEREC needs no impressions or models that would have been thrown away after
use. Ten CEREC patients represent 50 to 100 pounds of waste disposal- ELIMINATED. There are no triplicate prescription forms
written to the lab- 90 sheets of paper no longer needed. Now imagine the emissions, bulk waste and paper elimination that
1000 patients represent- a noticable step forward in preserving our environment.
porcelain can be given great cosmetic detail
It's more challenging
to restore one front tooth (matching the other natural teeth) than it is to do them all. In this case, the rotated, worn and
long appearance of the lateral incisor was the challenge. The brown root exposure cannot simply be made white to solve the
cosmetic problem. Also note that the other teeth have many unique qualities to be matched- translucencies, opacities, enamel
fracture lines, rotations and ware.
This patient is missing her upper canine tooth
and her teeth were too
CEREC, we made one porcelain crown. To create a match, we lightly bleached all the front teeth to soften the many unique nuances.
The crown was given over a dozen tiny white vertical lines, translucency and a slight brown hue for the appearance of a root.
The tooth remains longer than the others, however it blends very well for a superb cosmetic result and was accomplished in
only one visit.
We bleached her teeth and restored the canine with a CEREC bridge in one visit.
This is a 'cosmetic emergency.' The patient was in town for
only one day and requested a CEREC single visit solution.
One porcelain crown and one porcelain veneer were completed
using CEREC in time for his flight back to Seattle.
ALLOWS LARGE FILLINGS TO BE REPLACED WITHOUT THE NEED FOR A CROWN
patient waited too long to replace these fillings and the stress fractured the tooth structure. This used to require crowns
(several visits to the dentist) and possibly root canal therapy to restore.
Utilizing CEREC, we preserved the tooth's structure. Why is
CEREC holistic? We preserve healthy tooth structure by creating a porcelain onlay, which
is healthier than a full tooth. The CEREC dental porcelain is exactly the same strength as enamel (outer tooth structure)
with no trace of metal so it behaves precisely like a tooth- working in perfect harmony with the rest of the mouth. CEREC
dental porcelain is the best alternative to silver (mercury) fillings and safe mercury removal protocols are part of the single
visit dentistry procedure. The computer scan is incredibly precise, resulting in the most intimate fitting restoration in
dentistry. This prevents contaminants from seeping in between tooth structure and filling material, resulting in a cleaner,
healthier and longer lasting smile.
